Afghanistan was again hit with earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1. the incident happened at Hindu Kush region of the country. Tremors were felt in parts of North India. Reportedly, mild tremors were felt in part of Delhi. Depth of the earthquake is said to be 220 kilometre, as per India’s National Center for Seismology.

 

Immediate reports on the casualties are not reported yet. Authorities are actively monitoring the situation, and asked locals to stay vigilant. Emergency response team are on stand by, while communication channels are open for addressing any emerging developments.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 240 kilometer of northeast of Kabul, said media report. . Afghanistan is prone to earthquake, especially the mountain region of Hindu Kush, as it is near to the junction of Indian Tectonic Plates and Eurasian.

Afghanistan lost more than 2000 of its population in the earthquake that hit the region in October last year, and another earthquake struck the country on the very next day itself. And more than 90 percentage of those died were children and women as said by UNICEF. The quake was of 6.3 magnitude and was hit at Herat province, in Zindajan, a rural city.
