
Earthquake Of Magnitude 6.19 Hits Turkey
Istanbul, Turkey: Turkey’s disaster authority on Sunday said that an earthquake of magnitude 6.19 has struck the country’s Western region.
According to German Research Centre for Geosciences(GFZ), the quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles).
Local media is reporting that the earthquake was felt across multiple provinces. The epicenter of the disaster is reported to be Balikesir province at around 7:53 pm local time , near Istanbul, the country’s biggest city.
However, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage in any of the affected provinces, as per current reports.
Turkey’s interior minister Ali Yerlikaya said on X that emergency teams from AFAD launched inspections around Istanbul and the neighbouring provinces.
There have been no negative development reported so far.
