Social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were detained in Romania. The incident happened after arrest warrants were issued by UK authorities, said Tate’s spokesperson. The bothers face allegations of sexual aggression that dated between 2012 and 2015. The brothers denied all the allegations charged against them.

Mateea Petrescu, spokesperson of Tate said that the Bucharest Court of Appeal is ready to make a “pivotal decision” on whether to execute the warrants issued by the UK’s Westminister Magistrates Court. Four women sexual violence and physical abuse against Tate to the police. The Crown Prosecution Service stayed away from making charges.

On it’s campaign page, “we handed over our evidence about the horrific acts of violence we endured and waited for action. But four years later we were told the U.K. authorities would not prosecute him…it’s our one remaining route to hold him accountable”.

Reportedly, the victims turned to crowdfunding to cover for the legal costs and began to pursue a civil case against them.

The former kickboxer has over 8.9 million followers on X (formerly twitter). He was banned on several other social media platforms including TikTok, mainly for his misogynistic views, which have occasionally sounded to advocate for violence against women.

Tate is also facing rape and human trafficking case in Romania, after both the brothers were detained in December alongside two women back in December 2022. The brothers are also accused of forming an alleged organised crime group with the intention of sexually exploiting women. They are awaiting the trial of the case.

Andrew Tate won an appeal to release him from the house arrest in August 2023. He is able to travel anywhere within Romania, but is banned from traveling out of the country. A court in Romania also overturned the decision to seize his assets, which enabling Tate to regain access to his properties including his supercars.
