A post shared by Talha Ahmed, who is a freelance journalist is going viral now. In the post on his X (formerly twitter) page, exposes the reason behind why there is a massive difference between what the western media covers and propagate about the Israel-Palestine war, and what the media house like Al Jazeera covers about the war.

In his post Mr. Ahmed said that if one watch Al Jazeera, there would be “scholars, professors, and investigative journalists discussing conflict resolution and in-depth analysis of root causes”. He added that when one switch to any other international media, the scenes would be different as “you will see a boomer ex-veteran telling why we need to bomb a country”.

Ever since the war between Palestinians and Israeli occupation force began, the most visible bigotry was seen on media that was supposed to “report truth”. The ‘whitewashed’ Western media often find it hard to pull themselves up to look at the other side of the story.

Unsubstantiated claims of incidents, showing one side of the story and victimising non-victims while deliberately refusing to not to reveal certain stories are all “unprofessional mistakes” the Western media has been committing while covering the war between Palestine and Hamas.

The blatant refusal of Western media to acknowledge what happened before October 7th is the most visible proof of the massive slant in its “reporting truths”. While 1400 Israeli were “killed”, more than 10,000 Palestinians just “died”.

It may be surprising to many in the West to learn that Israel has been waging brutal and indiscriminate war on Palestinians for decades. The humiliation and injustice beyond the horizon of imagination that the fanatical settler force of Israel has been forcing down on the innocent civilians of Palestine can be ‘unbelievable’ for many.

The Western media’s sedulous chanting of the “unprecedented Hamas attack on October 7th” in which 1400 Israelis were killed and more than 200 taken as hostages appears like its desperate endeavour to erase the context of that “unprecedented attack”. Connecting two and two is not necessary to grasp the fact that most of the Western media perceive through the prism made in Israel, which explains the miraculous tally drawn between 1400 and 10,000.

The major credit for why there are still voices preaching about Israeli occupation force’s “right to defend themselves” against the innocent civilians of Gaza, while the child who is forced to carry shattered body parts of his brother in his school bag for burial was considered as “collateral damage”, can be given to the portrayal of the war by the Western media.

The brass-necked portrayal of settler Israelis as “victims” and the suppressed Palestinians as “terrorists” is the evident example of the bigotry that has been visible in the Western media for decades. Palestinian ambassador to United Nations, Riyad Mansour once said “history, begins for some media and politicians when Israelis are killed. Our people have endured one deadly year after another”, as quoted by Al Jazeera.

The Western media’s “confirmation” on Israeli army’s claim that Hamas has beheaded 40 babies and the American President Joe Biden’s condemnation on the “stomach churning” news that he has seen proof about has spread like wild fire around the globe but the reality of the alleged proof that it is an AI generated image is still unknown to many. White House has walked back on Mr. Biden’s claim about seeing the “proof”, but the incident was not celebrated with the passion of how the “Hamas beheaded 40 babies” story was celebrated.

Like Lebanese writer Lina Mounzer who has written for major Western publications said, “they already know. The media knows. The politicians know. They also know their talking points. And they know their duty: to keep the killing going”.
