It Was A Success: US On New Delhi G20 Summit

The United States has commended the successful organisation of G20 Summit in New Delhi last week.

“We absolutely believe it was a success. The G20 is a big organisation. Russia is a member of the G20. China is a member of the G20,” the US State Department”s official spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters in a briefing on September 11.

The 18th G20 summit was held under India’s presidency in the national capital on September 9 and 10. The meeting was attended by world leaders including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz among many others.

In G20 New Delhi summit, leaders were able to find consensus on entry of African Union to the grouping, the New Delhi G20 Leaders’ Declaration, India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and Global Biofuels Alliance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the consensus on the New Delhi Declaration within the G20 and its adoption. The declaration recognises the impact of cascading crises on long-term growth and emphasises the need for well-calibrated macroeconomic and structural policies to boost growth while protecting vulnerable populations. This approach aims to resolve the cost-of-living crisis and foster strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth.
