The victory parade for Kansas City Chiefs has turned into chaos after shooting erupted which killed one and injured many. Authorities of the Super Bowl team Kansas City Chiefs said that three people were arrested in connection with the incident. The shotting happened as the celebration was wrapping up. The incident happened at near Union Station of Missouri. Among the 21 injured, 11 are reported to be children are now being treated Children’s Mercy City. Among the 11, nine are injured of gunshot wounds.

President Joe Biden released a statement urging action to be taken on gun control. The statement said that such attack to happen during a Super Bowl parade “cuts deep in the American soul”. He said the incident should “shame us into acting”, and raised the question that how many families need to be torn apart for actions to be taken on the issue.

It was clear if the shooting was incidental to the parade that was attended by Super Bowl champions. Governors of Missouri and Kansas, Mike Parson and Laura Kelly also took part in the parade. Meanwhile, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a local DJ and mother of two children, has been identified as the victim of the Super Bowl parade shooting.

The incident gained widespread condemnation from sports stars and authorities alike. National Football League (NFL) issued a statement confirming all players, staff and families are safe. The statement called the shooting a “senseless act of violence”.

Taking to his X account, the team’s quarterback player, Patrick Mohames said that he was “praying for Kansas City”. The team’s tight end player, Travis Klece, who is also pop sensation Taylor Swift’s boyfriend said he was “heartbroken”. He said “KC, you mean the world to me”.
