The Saurya Airline aircraft carrying 19 people, comprising crew and technical staff on board slipped off the runway and crashed on Wednesday in Kathmandu. The 9N-AME (CRJ 200) crashed while taking off at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal’s Kathmandu. At least 18 people were killed in the crash.
- The Saurya Airline aircraft carrying 19 passengers crashed while attempting to take off from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. The plane burst into flames after it skidded off the runaway within minutes of taking off.
- According to the eyewitness, the plane flipped after the wing-tip hit the ground while taking off, report The Kathmandu post.

- The Pokhara-bound plane met with the accident at around 11 am, said Premnath Thakur, TIA spokesperson.
- The CRJ200 plane, which has the capacity to carry 50 passengers could not gain altitude while take off. The flight skidded off the runway and fell down on embankment and caught fire.
- Police and firefighters are currently carrying out rescue operation at the accident site.
- The pilot of the aircraft, 37-year-old Manish Shakya was rescued from the wreckage and was taken to the nearby hospital in Sinamangal for treatment.
- The plane has been carrying technical staff of the airline, Gyanendra Bhul, information officer at the TIA, told the Himalayan.
- A fire that broke out from the aircraft has been put off. The local media has reported that 18 people were killed in the crash.
- The bodies of the 18 passengers in the plane were recovered, reported news agency Reuters.
- The Tribhuvan International Airport being a tabletop is regarded as one of the riskiest airports in the world. It is located on the top of a plateau surrounded by deep gorges and valleys on all sides.
- The flight which was involved in the accident belongs to Saurya airlines which operates domestic flights in Nepal with two Bombardier CRJ-200 regional jets, both around 20 year old, according to Flight Radar 24.
