Kerala Chief Minister Says India Stands With Palestine; "Please Don't Count BJP's Policy"

Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, said that Kerala’s “solidarity is towards Palestine”. He added that India should quit the military and defence contract with Israel as the country is using India as a weapon against Palestine.

He made the remarks while talking at the pro-Palestine rally conducted by Communist party of India. He said that, “please don’t count the BJP’S policy of supporting Israel as India’s stand. India needs to stop military and defence contract with Israel. India is used as a weapon against Palestine by Israel”.

He also added that India has always supported Palestine pre and post independence and said that the country have been following “Nehru’s policy for a long time”.

He also took a jab at Congress party for not attending any pro-Palestine protests after claiming to be have a “strong influence” in the country without directly naming the party. “We should notice one more thing. We see many Palestine solidarity rallies in the country, mostly organized by left. Some other forces are there too. But where are those political parties that claim they have a strong influence in the country? They are not to be seen. In Kerala, we hear their voices in a different way. This is not due to lack of clarity and confusion, but due to lack of clear stand”, Mr. Vijayan said.

Earlier on October 29, the Kerala chief minister had also slammed the central government after the country abstained from UN General Assembly from voting for resolution that called for an immediate humanitarian truce in Gaza.
