King Charles Diagnosed With Cancer: Buckingham Palace

A communication from the Buckingham Palace said King Charles has been diagnosed with ‘a form of cancer’.

The statement said during King Charles’ recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

The palace has also informed that King Charles today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.

Throughout this period, Charles, 75-year old King of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth realms, will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.

“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” the communication said.

Charles, eldest child of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.

King Charles, born Charles Philip Arthur George, ascended to the British throne in a pivotal moment of history. Born on November 14, 1948, his other family members include siblings, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward. His first marriage to Lady Diana Spencer produced two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Following a significant reign by Queen Elizabeth II, Charles became King on September 8, 2022 after his mother’s death.

Charles married current queen Camilla on April 5, 2005.
