Two weeks ago, the British royal family gathered for the annual Commonwealth Day ceremony with King Charles and Queen Camilla in attendance, leading the royals at Westminster Abbey. What happened next was nothing short of a cross-cultural moment, with many questioning if AI had something to do with this… Because what are the chances?
As King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived, an unexpected yet all too familiar music played in the background. Performed by Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band, a Hindu Scottish pipe band, chose to play the iconic Dhoom Machale to welcome the King and Queen of England. Needless to say, desi people were in shock and disbelief.

Although the incident didn’t gain traction at first, when the band shared a video of the same on their Instagram page, well… it had to go viral.
And yet many couldn’t believe their eyes (or ears, rather) and wondered if it was edited or if AI was playing a role in the video. But when the BBC, which covered the Commonwealth Dar ceremony, also included the exact moment in its coverage, there were no doubts left. The video was authentic.

Dhoom Machale and the Queen: now there’s a common and old link here. Netizens quickly drew comparisons with the iconic introduction scene in Dhoom 2 where Hrithik Roshan’s character pulls off a daring heist on a train disguised as Queen Elizabeth.

It also didn’t help that Queen Camilla was dressed in a similar pink outfit.

“That’s clearly hritik Roshan disguised as Camilla,” quipped one netizen, while another asked, “Is that hrithik?”
“There’s robbery happening inside and the band is playing bgm for the thieves exit in slow motion,” joked another Instagram user.
Several GIFs of Hrithik’s character in Dhoom 2 and ‘Kohinoor’ jokes flooded the comment section. “Relax boys Hritik bhai Kohinoor wapas lene gye hai (Relax boys Hrithik brother has gone to bring back Kohinoor),” said one person.
Meanwhile others praised the band for its performance, blending dhol, drums and pipes, and of course its choice of song.
