Burmese Army plane with 14 people on board crashed at Lengpui airport in Mizoram on Tuesday morning. Six people sustained injuries and the rest were reported to be safe, as per the Mizoram”s Director General of Police (DGP). The injured have been immediately taken to the Lengpui Hospital. The plane fell from the tabletop runway of the Mizoram government-run airport while landing.

As per reports, the plane crashed during its landing. However, the circumstances surrounding the crash is not yet known. Photos of the accident showed the plane lying inside a jungle, with some parts of it being broken.

According to the sources, the plane came to Mizoram to bring back Myanmar”s soldiers who had fled to Mizoram to take shelter on January 17 following a fight with rebels. The rebels had reportedly captured a Myanmar military base in Southern Chin state. The accident happened when the army plane reached Mizoram for the second time after taking back some of its soldiers earlier.

Aa per the reports, at least 276 soldiers entered Mizoram last week after the gunfight with the rebels. Out of which, 184 soldiers were taken back on Monday. The crashed Myanmar plane was coming to send them back. A total of 276 Myanmar’s soldiers had entered Mizoram last week, and of them, 184 were sent back on Monday, officials said.
