"No Meeting, No Connection": Dalai Lama Denies Epstein Allegations

The office of the Dalai Lama on Sunday strongly dismissed social media rumours and media reports attempting to link the Tibetan spiritual leader with Jeffrey Epstein, the late American businessman and convicted sex offender, calling the claims completely false and baseless.

In an official statement posted on X, the Dalai Lama’s office categorically denied any meeting or association with Epstein and said that such reports were part of misleading narratives circulating online in the wake of the so-called “Epstein files.”

The official handle of His Holiness the Dalai Lama stated that recent claims were attempting to falsely connect the spiritual leader with Epstein without any factual basis.

“Some recent media reports and social media posts concerning the ‘Epstein files’ are attempting to link His Holiness the Dalai Lama with Jeffrey Epstein,” the statement said.

Rejecting the allegations outright, the office added, “We can unequivocally confirm that His Holiness has never met Jeffrey Epstein or authorised any meeting or interaction with him by anyone on His Holiness’s behalf.”

The clarification came amid renewed public attention on documents and claims linked to Jeffrey Epstein, which have triggered widespread speculation and online discussions involving prominent global figures.

Social media users had circulated unverified claims suggesting that the Dalai Lama’s name appeared in the Epstein files. However, no evidence was provided to support these assertions, prompting a swift and firm response from the Tibetan leader’s office.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also came out in strong support of the Dalai Lama, condemning attempts to drag a revered spiritual institution into what he described as irresponsible misinformation.

Reacting to the reports, Mr Khandu said the Dalai Lama and the institution he represents must not be targeted through baseless narratives.

“The revered institution of the Dalai Lama must not be dragged into baseless narratives or malicious speculation,” he said in a post on X.

Calling the allegations deeply irresponsible, Mr Khandu added, “Attempts to malign a sacred spiritual institution through misinformation are deeply irresponsible and condemnable.”

Supporters and followers of the Dalai Lama across the world have also expressed concern over the spread of unverified claims on social media, noting the global respect and moral standing associated with the Tibetan spiritual leader.

The Dalai Lama, who is widely regarded as a symbol of peace, compassion and non-violence, has maintained a public life that is closely documented, with his engagements and meetings regularly disclosed.
