Priyanka Chopra, the goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF has made her stand clear on the ongoing Israel-Gaza war by sharing a post of UNICEF on her Instagram story. She reshared a post calling for a humanitarian ceasefire on children of Gaza on Monday.
“Children need a lasting humanitarian ceasefire,” the post read. The post was originally shared by an agency of the United Nations responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide.
The original post shared with the caption on December 2 reads, “Today, the Gaza Strip is once again the most dangerous place in the world to be a child. After seven days of respite from horrific violence, fighting has resumed. More children will surely die as a result. Before the pause, more than 5,300 Palestinian children were reportedly killed in 48 days of relentless bombing – a figure that does not include many children still missing and presumed to be buried under rubble.”

The post concluded by calling out on both the parties to ensure the safety of the children, “We call on all parties to ensure that children are protected and assisted, in accordance with their obligations under international humanitarian law. All children in the State of Palestine and Israel deserve peace and hope for a better future.”’
Many celebrities who remained silent in the beginning of the war has began speaking out against the genocide happening in Gaza. In November, more than 1300 artists including Oscar winning Olivia Colmann signed a letter accusing the cultural institution across the western countries for silencing Palestinian voices. Similarly, an open letter signed by several celebrities addressing to the US Congress and US President Joe Biden demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza was issued. Priyanka was one among the signatories. Chopra faced immense backlash earlier for not taking a stance in Gaza issue.
Meanwhile in Gaza, the death toll has reached about 18,000 after eight weeks of war. The humanitarian condition in Gaza has worsened since the end of the truce. The World Health Organisation director general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Sunday said that it is impossible to improve the health condition in Gaza which has become ‘catastrophic’ health situation.
