Reportedly, a woman in Russia slept with her husband’s mummified corpse for nearly four years. According to New York Post, she performed occult rituals which was inspired by an Egyptian God. The 50-year-old Svetlana also warned her four children not to tell anyone, or else they would be sent to an orphanage. When neighbours asked about her husband, she lied about him being in Tibet for receiving medical treatment. The husband, Valdimir apparently had health issues with his feet, as he refused to wear shoes even in freezing weather.

According to Russian media 78.ru, the husband died under mysterious circumstance. On December 2020, the husband and wife had a row. The woman yelled at her husband and wished him death. Suddenly, Vladymir froze and fell face down on the floor. The woman, who was offended by the action did not paid attention, and thought that he was pretending. Four hours later, when the eldest daughter felt something wrong. When she turned to her mother, she forbade the daughter to ask her about their father. She threatened them about orphanage. The woman then wrapped her deceased husband in a blanket and carried him into the room.

Recently, a social worker came to check on the family’s minor children including to girls, aged eight and 17, and twin boys aged 11, found put about the mummified body. Though the social workers had visited the family several times before since 2021, they failed to notice the body.

When the house was thoroughly searched, police found multiple occult items, which include Egyptian cross at the feet of the mummified body, tarot cards, amulets, and images of animal skulls.

Svetlana allegedly performed several rituals which she believed would help in preserve her husband’s body. She claimed that this was what Vladimir would have wanted. It was also founded that one of the bedrooms held a makeshift shrine of Anubis, the jackal-headed ancient Egyptian god of funerary rites.

The woman is said to have genetic predisposition for schizophrenia. She is now undergoing mental health evaluation. The four children were also taken for the medical assessments. The Russian Investigative Committee said that charges over the case will be made based on the forensic medical examination of the body.
