Amid the soaring heatwave in parts of the United States, a six-foot-tall wax statue of former US President Abraham Lincoln was melted in Washington. The capital city recorded 37 degrees Celsius over the weekend, leading to the melting and distortion of the wax structure on June 22.
The statue was installed by Virginia-based artist Sandy Williams IV at the site of the famous Camp Barker, where the Civil War-era refugee camp had housed formerly enslaved African Americans. The Camp Barker now serves as an elementary school.
