Hadid is an august name in the world of modelling. Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid are well known super models. The Hadids often made clear their relentless support for Palestine, not only after the eruption of the current brutal and bloody war, but way before October 7th.

Mohamed Hadid and his five children, including Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid and Anwar Hadid, never forgot their root from Palestine and held close their Palestinian identity. Mohammed Anwar Hadid never let his children forget their root from “beautiful Palestine” and is very proud to be a Palestinian. His Instagram account will testify this.

Mr. Hadid have deep roots in Palestine. He shared the story of his Palestinian root on his Instagram account with pictures of his parents and siblings. He was born in Palestine. But unfortunately they had to flee from their land due to the occupation force. He shared the real stories behind the formation of the state of Israel.

His mother, Khaira Daher Hadid was from Nazareth, Palestine and his father, Anwar Mohammed Hadid, was from Safad. He shared how his family was kicked out from their home by the Jews to whom they had given shelter for two and half years. He said that the Jews didn’t even let his mother take a blanket from their own home for the infant Mohammed Hadid.

Gigi Hadid openly declared her support for Palestine through her Instagram. In a statement, she wrote that she has “deep empathy and heartbreak for Palestinian struggle and life under occupation” and added that It is a responsibility that she hold daily. She made it clear to her Jewish friends that “while I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of Jewish person”.

She shared a post which explains the difference between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism. The post Gigi Hadid shared read about how “the Israeli government, US government and anti-Palestine organizations run campaigns re-define the meaning of antisemitism, aiming to falsely conflate it with criticisms of Israel or Zionism. They do this so Israeli government can avoid accountability for its policies and actions that violate Palestinian human rights”.

 

She also shared the part that said “war mongers try to make it hard, but it’s actually clear and simple: Fighting for Palestinian freedom and against anti-Semitism are intertwined. We are deeply committed to both”.

She also shared her sister Bella Hadid’s old post of Khalil Gibran’s words that read, “for you and I are sons of one religion, and it is the spirit”.

The model pronounced her disappointment over the Israeli occupation’s doing on West Bank. She shared a video that showed Israeli tank destroying Yasser Arafat’s monument, she wrote that the video broke her heart and called the act an “erasure”.

Bella Hadid, younger sister of Gigi Hadid has been more vocal about the Palestinian issue than any of the Hadid siblings. she had her talks about Palestine pinned to her Instagram account. The posts talked about the Nakba (the catastrophe) of 1948 and the violent and “unprovoked” attack of the Israeli Defence Force on the innocent civilians of Palestine. In her post, she pledged that she “will continue to come forward with peace, showing factual information about how IDF, Israeli government, and settlers attack innocent Palestinians for no reason, except for simply being Palestinians”.

After the breakout of the current war, the model has been criticised for being silent for a while, later she sought forgiveness for her silence. In a lengthy statement released on her Instagram, she wrote, that she could not fathom “ideal words for this deeply intricate” incidents that have been happening.

She revealed that her phone number has been hacked, she has been receiving hundreds of death threats daily and her family felt to be in danger. She said, “I cannot be silenced any longer. Fear is not an option. The people and children in Palestine, especially in Gaza, cannot afford our silence. We are not brave – they are”.

While she mourned the Israeli families that have been dealing with pain and aftermath of October 7th, she said her “heart is bleeding with pain from the trauma I am seeing unfold, as well as the generational trauma of my Palestinian blood”. She also shared the story of her family’s Palestinian root called out to keep the pressure on world leaders to intervene and call an end to the “urgent humanitarian crisis”.

She pleaded the war to be ended. “The people of Gaza have no where to go. Children are dying. Please”.

Anwar Hadid, the youngest Hadid has shared a footage a Palestinian documentary Walled Off, a film by Vin Arfuso that showed the real conflict and answers to some of the Israel – Palestine questions featuring Yasser Arafat, Palestinian leader.  The video showed Yasser Arafat saying the Americans will understand and start talking for the “just cause of Palestinians” and one “cannot hide the Sun with fingers”. Anwar Hadid is one of the producers of the movie.

He too has been speaking relentlessly about the Palestinians and Gaza. He shared one of the most overlooked or un-talked issue of the innocent Palestinians. the post traumatic stress disorder of the children of the Palestinian children and how there is nothing “post” in the Palestinians’ lives.
