US Claims Iran Sought Help Over The Helicopter Crash That Killed Ebrahim Raisi

After the incident of Iran President Ebrahim Raisi, and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian”s, death, US, the country”s arch nemesis said that Tehran sought assistance over the helicopter crash that killed the President. Iran and US has had not maintained diplomatic relationship since the aftermath of the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

The US State Department said it would be willing to help, as it is something that should be done with respect to any government in such situation, but “largely for logistical reason”, as Washington was unable to provide assistance. State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller made the remark while talking to reporters. However, Miller refused to go into details on how the two countries communicated.

The tragic incident came after Washington and Tehran met for their latest talks in Oman which aimed at increasing stability after clashes between Iran and Israel. US said it offered condolences despite claiming that Raisi had “blood on his hands”. US State Department offered “official condolences” over the Iran leaders” death in an official statement. The statement also read that Washington reaffirm its support for the Iranian people and their struggle for human rights and the fundamental freedoms, as Tehran sought to select new president.

Joe Biden”s administration described the pronounced condolences as a standard and not anything to showing support to the nation. It said Raisi “was a man who had a lot of blood on his hands”. The National Security Council spokesman said that Raisi was responsible for “atrocious” abuses. Reportedly, Ebrahim Raisi was known to be a judge who presided over the mass execution of political prisoners. It was under his presidency the country cracked down on mass protest led by women against the custodial killing of Mahsa Amini.

Earlier, Iranian former foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has held United States sanctions on Iran responsible for the tragic event. Zarif said that one of the causes of this tragic event is the United States which sanctioned the sale of the aviation industry to Iran. Notably President Raisi and other members were traveling in the BELL 212 Helicopter, a two-blade aircraft. The helicopter was manufactured in the US and had the capacity to carry 15 people. The helicopter is said to be 10 years old and the US sanctions made it difficult for Iran to obtain parts or new aircraft.
