The United States on Saturday issued sanctions for three Chinese-based companies for the supply of missile-applicable items to facilitate Pakistan defence force in their ballistic missile program. The decision was revealed through an official press statement by the US State Department. The order as per Matthew Miller, the department spokesperson, targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their modes of delivery.
The designated Chinese firms are identified as:
- General Technology Limited
- Beijing Luo Luo Technology Development Co Ltd
- Changzhou Utek Composite Company Ltd.
The General Technology Ltd has worked to supply brazing materials, that are used to fix components of ballistic missile rocket engines and in production of the combustion chambers, explains the statement.
The second Chinese firm, Beijing Luo Luo Technology Development Co Ltd. has worked to supply mandrels and other machinery. They can be used in the production of solid‐propellant rocket motors and can be controlled by the Missile Technology Control Regime, said US.
Changzhou Utek Composite Company Ltd as said has worked since 2019 to supply D‐glass glass fiber, quartz fabric, and high silica cloth. They all have applications in missile systems.
“The United States is committed to strengthening the global nonproliferation regime by taking action to disrupt procurement networks supporting proliferation activities of concern. Today, we are designating three entities pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery”, said Mr Miller in the statement.
