Vivek Ramaswamy: The New Republican "To Revive" US

Vivek Ramaswamy is on the frontline everyday now. Brimmed with his self-beliefs and loads of ambition, the Indian-origin business tycoon is now a Republican presidential aspirant. With his unfiltered statements and “outrageous” comments on several of social and political aspects of the country, Mr. Ramaswamy placed himself at a place where everyone can see him. May be that is one of his “sleek” political move.

Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy was born on August 9, 1985 to Kerala based immigrant parents in Cincinnati. His father is an engineer and his mother is a psychiatrist. He tied knots with Apoorva Ramaswamy.  She is an assistant professor and throat surgeon at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Centre. The couple have two sons.

The 38 year old multi millionaire has bagged himself a place in the list of 20 youngest millionaires in the country, says Forbes. According to Forbes, his net worth is $950 million. He was the CEO of Roivant, a drug developing company, until 2021. On January 2021, he stepped down from his company and turned his attention to politics.

He is following the former US President, Donald Trump. May be he runs a little farther than Mr. Trump. With no political history in his pocket, the business man-turned-politician is prompting Americans to take a double take with his “swash buckling” confidence in delivering his view points. He knows where to push and what to take.

According to him: there are only two genders and transgenderism in teenagers actually is a “mental disorder” which needs treatment. He is also persistently against the migration. He strongly advocates for “an open border is no border”.

Mr. Ramaswamy is constantly at the mouth of controversies, backlashes and sometimes praises for his outspoken approach. With his statements ranging from deportation of immigrants from the country to calling transgenderism a mental disorder, and his unwavering belief that he is going to win the presidential election in 2024, the young tycoon is winning the Republican debates and may be votes.

Then there are his beliefs. According to him, “abortion is a form of murder” and he supported the ban on abortion. Social media should be banned for children as it can get “addictive”. But the opinion is “not coming from a Republican mind. Nor it is a Democratic opinion”. According to Mr. Ramswamy, this is one of his aims as an attempt to “revive the mental health” of the country.

As a way to “think ambitiously about reviving civic duty in America”, Mr. Ramaswamy supports the notion of raising the voting age to be 25. But as for him, those who are above 18 can vote if they have performed any sort of “national service requirement”.

Mr. Ramaswamy is not afraid to push the wrong buttons. During his interview given to The Atlantic Magazine, he said that “there are lies the government has told about 9/11”.

There are also his truths. He pinned his “truths” on his social media page.

His truths are, “God is real, there are two genders, human flourishing requires fossil fuels, Reverse racism is racism, an open border is no border, parents determine the education of their children, the nuclear family is the greatest form of governance known to mankind, Capitalism lifts people from poverty, there are three branches of US government, not four, the US Constitution is the strongest guarantor of freedoms in history”.

And this speaks for him about from where his claims and the resultant jeering, not only from his rival party but from his own party members come from.
