Who Is Preesha Chakraborty? Indian-American Named In 'World's Brightest' Students list

Preesha Chakraborty, a nine-year-old Indian-American schoolgirl has attained a spot in the “world”s brightest” students list prepared by the Johns Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth (JH-CTY). The list was formulated on the basis of assessing her performance in above-grade-level tests of over 16,000 students from over 90 countries.

Hailing from Fremont, California, she took the JH-CTY test in September 2023 as a Grade 3 student. Meanwhile, she has marked exceptional performance on the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test), ACT (American College Testing), School and College Ability Test, or similar tests as part of the CTY Talent Search. In the test, she demonstrated exceptional skills in verbal and quantitative sections comparable to the 99th percentile of advanced Grade 5 performances.

Her outstanding achievements secured her the Grand Honors distinction. Preesha”s achievement qualifies her for more than 250 Johns Hopkins CTY”S Online and On-Campus programmes curated for advanced students in various subjects including mathematics, computer programming, chemistry, physics, reading and writing.

Preesha is a lifetime member of the acclaimed Mensa Foundation, the oldest high-IQ society in the world. At the age of six, she achieved the membership at the Mensa by scoring in the 99th percentile in the national level Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT).

Aside from studies, Preesha Chakraborty loves travelling, hiking, and mixed martial arts.

Founded in 1979, The John Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth is a center for innovation aimed to advancing gifted education through research on testing, programs, and other support for advanced learners.

Previously, Natasha Perianayagam, a 13-year-old Indian-American student, was named in the “world”s brightest” students list for the second consecutive year, based on JH-CTY.
