Saudi Arabia Airports Take 12.5 Million Passengers During Ramadan And Eid Al-Fitr Holidays

Saudi Arabia’s airports recorded 18 percentage jump in the number of flights and passengers during the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holidays as compared to the same period last year. As per statement released by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Saudi airports registered a 12.5 million passengers during the time period of Ramadan and Eid holidays, which is marked up to the ninth of Arabic month Shawwal.

As per the report, the airports in the Gulf nation handled more than 86,000 flights during the same period. Reportedly, Saudi airports handled 100 cargo flights during the time. In terms of the passenger per airport, the King Abdulaziz International Airport was in top as carried over 5.38 million travellers during the above mentioned period.

King Khalid International Airport came in second position as it carried 3.23 million passengers. Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport carried 1.04 million passengers. All the other airports in the country carried 2.85 million passengers in total during the mentioned time period.

President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej attributed the achievements to the leadership of the country in recognising the aviation sector as the significant catalyst for the nation’s economic growth. He also pointed out the aviation sector’s crucial role in bolstering the economic growth, contributing to the sustainable development and achieving goals outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030.

The national aviation strategy of Saudi is to propel the country as a leading nation within the Middle East and globally, by doubling its capacity by 2030. The increase in the above mentioned time period not only marks the efficiency and readiness of the country’s airports, but it also underscores the strategic importance of the aviation sector in achieving the broader national development goals.
