Heartening You Accepted Malpractices To Influence Elections By Adani, Ambani; Now Probe Them: CPI’s Binoy Viswam Wrote To PM Modi

CPI Rajya Sabha MP Binoy Viswam penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to take decisive action against alleged corruption and black money involving Adani and Ambani, following the Prime Minister”s recent speech at a BJP rally in Telangana.

In his letter, Viswam highlighted Modi”s accusations against the Adani Group and the Ambani-led Reliance Group of donating “tempo-loads” of black money to a particular political party. He called attention to the Prime Minister”s acknowledgment of malpractices, lobbying, hoarding of black money, and attempts to influence elections by these corporate giants.

Viswam reminded Modi of the controversies surrounding the Adani and Ambani groups due to business malpractices and their proximity to the government. He mentioned the BJP”s staunch defense of the Adani Group when accused of serious malpractices by Hindenburg Research, and the rejection of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani issue.

The CPI MP emphasised the need for thorough probes by agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Income Tax (IT) authorities, as per Modi”s own assertion of the existence of “tempo-loads” and “bags” of black money with these corporates. He called on BJP MPs who defended these “wealth-creators” to apologize to the country for misleading claims.

Viswam concluded by warning that failure to investigate these serious charges would be seen as siding with corruption and cronyism, contrary to the interests of the country. He urged Modi to take decisive action on corruption, black money, and cronyism, emphasising that the entire nation awaited his response.

”In light of the serious accusations made by none other than the Prime Minister of India, I urge you to direct agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Income Tax (IT) authorities to thoroughly probe the wrongdoings by Adani and Ambani and unearth the hoards of black money from them, as you claimed is in their possession. Members of your party, the BJP, who defended these “wealth-creators” should also apologise to the country for misleading claims, contrary to your own assertion on the existence of “tempo-loads” and “bags” of black money with these corporates. Failure in probing these serious charges levelled by yourself would be seen as siding with corruption and cronyism, contrary to the interests of our country. Entire country awaits decisive action from your side on corruption, black money and cronyism,” the CPI MP wrote.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi fired a fresh criticism at former Congress president and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Telangana’s Karimnagar on Wednesday. Taking aim at the Congress, the Prime Minister accused them of constantly invoking the names of “Adani and Ambani” for five years, only to stop once the Lok Sabha polls were announced.

He questioned Rahul Gandhi’s sudden halt in targeting ‘Ambani-Adani’ in his election campaigns, saying, “For five years, Congress’s shehzade kept chanting one thing. After his Rafael issue got grounded, he started a new chant. Five industrialists, five industrialists, five industrialists. Gradually, he started saying Ambani-Adani. But ever since the elections were announced, he stopped abusing Ambani and Adani. Today, I want to ask from Telangana soil, he must declare how much money they have taken from Ambani, Adani? Was there a deal? Why did you stop abusing Ambani and Adani overnight? Zaroor daal mein kucchh kaala hai (something is wrong). You abused them for five years and then it stopped overnight?”
