2025 Tesla Model Y Deliveries Begin In China: Prepares To Come To India

Tesla is preparing to release an updated Model Y. The redesigned coupe electric crossover will be released first in China. According to reports, the American EV manufacturer began shipping Model Y First Edition units to the biggest EV market in the world on February 26.

Nevertheless, the pre-facelifted Model Y will continue to be available for purchase through the end of this month, according to Tesla’s official China website.The company’s official Weibo social media account has been used to make the announcement. The new Model Y, code-named Juniper, costs between CNY 263,500 and 303,500, or Rs 31.65 lakh and Rs 36.46 lakh.

While production of the couple electric crossover began on February 17, the updated Model Y made its debut in China on January 10. After nine days, Tesla was operational, with the first batch of units prepared for shipment to each Chinese dealership. As a result, 47 days after its global premiere, the upgraded 2025 Model Y is now available for purchase.

Deliveries of the Model Y were initially planned to start in March by Tesla. However, delivery were moved forward until late February since the Shanghai Gigafactory started producing the upgraded SUV in large quantities ahead of schedule. A two-year or 40,000-kilometer extended warranty will be provided to buyers of the Model Y First Edition.

The 2025 Model Y from Tesla comes with two different powertrain options. In the first option, a single rear-wheel drive motor producing 220 kW (295 hp) is powered by a 62.5-kWh LFP battery pack. The advertised range of this powertrain on a single charge is 593 km (CLTC). Performance-wise, this model of the Model Y can reach a top speed of 201 kmph and will take 5.9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 kmph.

The second choice is a 78.4 kWh NMC battery pack that powers an all-wheel drive system with two motors. A 194-kW (260 hp) electric motor powers the back axle, while a 137-kW (184 hp) motor powers the front axle. The combined output of these two motors is 331 kW.

The new Tesla Model Y has all the features of the previous model, including a 16-speaker music system, an electric sunroof with a silver coating, active cruise control, lane maintain automated steering, and a 15-inch touchscreen entertainment system. Furthermore, for an extra CNY 32,000 (Rs 3.84 lakh) and CNY 64,000 (Rs 7.69 lakh), purchasers can choose between the Autopilot package and full-self driving (FSD).
