Bajaj Launches "Freedom 125" CNG Bike; Aims Moving Away From Petrol

India’s third-largest motorcycle maker Bajaj Auto, unveiled the world’s first-ever CNG-powered two-wheeler ‘Freedom 125’, Bajaj’s bi-fuel motorcycle on Friday. It was launched under a separate branch in Pune.

Bajaj aims to unwrap a new era of seamless travelling experience through this debut bike in a price range of 90,000. The launch event was made in the presence of  Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and this entry-level vehicle is one in every 2 motorcycles in the local market. The Minister stated in an X post that the company promises significant contributions in operating costs and pollution reduction, setting a new standard for sustainable life patterns to save the planet.

According to ET, Rakesh Sharma, Bajaj’s Auto Executive Director, said that the CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) bike is the result of three years of careful experimentation. He stated that the new bike caters to a large market, as 70% of the one million motorcycles sold per month have some level of concern about fuel economy.

The Telescopic front forks and Mono link suspension give a sleek look to the bike and it comes with a 125cc engine placed horizontally keeping a CNG tank under the seat. The tank can carry 2 kilograms of fuel. The new bike is available in three variants Drum, Drum LED and Disc LED.

This CNG Motorcycle is currently available in Gujarat and Maharashtra and bookings are open now, The expansion would be carried out after three months in a phased manner across the country. The company is planning to expand their business through the export of the debut CNG bike, to Bangladesh, Egypt, Peru, Columbia, Indonesia and Tanzania.
