BMW's Biggest Launch Day: New 5 Series, Mini Models, And CE 04 E-Scooter Arriving In India

BMW India is gearing up for a significant launch event on July 24, introducing four new models, including luxury sedans, electric crossovers, and an electric two-wheeler. Here’s a look at what’s coming to Indian roads next month:

  1. BMW 5 Series LWB

The all-new BMW 5 Series LWB will debut in India, marking it as the first right-hand drive market and the second globally to receive this version. This luxury sedan, measuring 5,175mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,520mm in height with a 3,105mm wheelbase, claims to be the largest in its segment, surpassing the upcoming Mercedes Benz E-Class LWB. It features a twin-screen setup with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, both operating on BMW 8.5 OS. Additional highlights include four-zone climate control, an 18-speaker Bowers and Wilkins audio system, ventilated and powered front seats with memory function, and Level 2 ADAS. Pre-bookings are now open at BMW dealerships and the company’s official website.

  1. Mini Cooper S

The fourth-generation Mini Cooper S will also be launched, with pre-bookings already open at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. The new Mini Cooper S features several cosmetic updates, including a larger 9.5-inch round central touchscreen with an OLED display, MINI Connected car tech, Intelligent Personal Assistant, and a Fisheye In-car Camera. It is powered by the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as its predecessor, but now produces 201 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque, an increase of 26 bhp and 20 Nm.

  1. Mini Countryman Electric

BMW will also introduce the all-electric Mini Countryman in India. This battery-powered crossover, available for pre-booking at Rs 1 lakh, maintains a familiar design with subtle tweaks to differentiate it from the petrol variant. It shares features with the Mini Cooper S and includes Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The electric motor produces 201 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.6 seconds. Meanwhile, the more powerful Countryman SE ALL4 variant delivers 494 Nm of torque and offers a range of 433 km (WLTP).

  1. BMW CE 04

The BMW CE 04 electric scooter, BMW Motorrad’s first battery-powered two-wheeler in India, will also launch on July 24. It is equipped with a 15kW permanent magnet, liquid-cooled synchronous electric motor powered by an 8.9 kWh battery. This setup offers a range of 130 km on a single charge and a top speed of 120 kmph. Priced at approximately USD 12,430 (around Rs 10.38 lakh) in the USA, the CE 04, being a CBU, is expected to have a similar price in India, making it the most expensive scooter in the country.

With these exciting launches, BMW is set to make a significant impact in the Indian automotive market.
