John Barnett, an ex-Boeing employee, has been found dead in the United States. John Barnett had earlier raised safety concerns about the Seattle-based aircraft manufacturer”s production standards. According to a BBC report, the Boeing whistleblower was found dead in his truck in the hotel car parking.

As per the report, John Barnett retired from Boeing in 2017. Notably, he had worked for Boeing for over three decades. John Barnett also worked as a quality manager at the North Charleston plant, making the 787 Dreamliner. The BBC reported that prior to his death, he had been involved in giving evidence in a whistleblower lawsuit against the aerospace giant.

In an interview with the BBC in 2019, John Barnett claimed that faulty parts were deliberately fitted to planes on the production line. He also reportedly claimed that passengers on Boeing 787 Dreamliner could be left without oxygen if the cabin were to suffer a sudden decompression. John Barnett said that the assembly process was rushed and safety was compromised due to the rush to get new aircraft off the production line. However, Boeing denied all the allegations.

John Barnett also claimed during the interview that under-pressure workers even fitted sub-standard parts to aircraft on the production line. John Barnett reportedly said that he had alerted managers about the issues, but no action had been taken. After retirement, John Barnett continued the legal battle against Boeing. He accused Boeing of denigrating his character because of the issues he pointed out.

As per the report, Barnett had been staying at the hotel to provide a deposition in the whistleblower lawsuit against Boeing. Officials are investigating Barnett”s death.
