Citroen Unveils All-Electric C3 Aircross with 300km Range in Europe

Citroen has officially unveiled the all-electric C3 Aircross in Europe, expanding its lineup with a model that combines modern design and eco-friendly technology. Priced from EUR 27,400 (approximately Rs 24.55 lakh), the C3 Aircross EV joins the combustion engine version, both of which are distinct from the India-spec C3 Aircross.

Design and Dimensions

The European C3 Aircross stands out with a more dynamic design compared to its Indian counterpart. Featuring prominent creases and a new front fascia, the EV sports a sealed nose with the updated Citroen logo. Its sleek radiator grille is flanked by redesigned C-shaped headlamps, equipped with tri-LED projector lights and multiple LED DRLs, enhancing its sharp appearance.

The rear design maintains some consistency with the Indian model, highlighted by a chevron pattern on the tailgate and bumper, along with the Citroen double-chevron logo. The SUV rides on stylish 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and measures 4.39 meters in length, making it slightly longer than the 4.32-meter Indian version.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the C3 Aircross EV is powered by a 44 kWh LFP battery, which drives a front-axle-mounted 83 kW (113 bhp) electric motor. Citroen claims a range of 300 km on a single charge, with a top speed of 145 km/h. The vehicle offers two AC charging options: a 7kW charger that takes 4 hours and 10 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%, and an 11kW charger that reduces the charging time to 2 hours and 50 minutes.

For rapid charging, the battery supports DC charging up to 100 kW, enabling a quick recharge from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes. Citroen is also developing a larger battery pack for the C3 Aircross, which is expected to extend the range beyond 400 km. This enhanced variant is slated for release next year.

Future Prospects

While the European C3 Aircross EV is based on Citroen’s new Smart Car architecture, the India-spec model, built on the Common Modular Platform (CMP), is unlikely to be directly imported to Europe. However, there is potential for Citroen to introduce a locally developed, India-specific C3 Aircross EV in the future, tailored to meet local market requirements.

The launch of the C3 Aircross EV marks another step in Citroen’s commitment to electrification, offering a blend of style, performance, and sustainability for European markets.
