Citroen C3 Aircross Scores 0-Star Safety Rating At Latin NCAP For Adult And Child Safety

A car that receives zero stars in a crash test is frowned upon in the increasingly tense world of automotive safety, and Citroen is doing the same. The French automaker, which makes safety a top priority, has failed when the Aircross, formerly known as the C3 Aircross, received a zero-star safety rating from the Latin NCAP. According to the most recent Latin NCAP survey, the Aircross received a zero-star safety rating for both adult and kid safety. The autonomous body examined a left-hand drive variant that was produced in Brazil. Two airbags, universal three-point seatbelts, ISOFIX anchorages, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) were all standard.

Electronic stability control (ESC), pedestrian protection, whiplash, and frontal and side collision were among the areas in which the mid-size SUV was tested. Due to the absence of side head protection, which is a required safety feature in many markets, it scored 0 points for side pole impact even if it did rather well in other categories.

Weak chest protection for the front passenger was found during the frontal crash test. There was a considerable amount of intrusion into the passenger compartment during the side impact test, which raised the possibility of occupant injury. Dynamic child protection was unable to get points since the manufacturer has not supplied any updates or the ISOFIX anchoring marks do not meet Latin NCAP criteria.

Installing a rearward-facing Child Restraint System (CRS) in such position prevented the passenger seat airbag from being deactivated, and the majority of tested CRS failed during installation. With few places of adequate cover, pedestrian head protection varied from marginal to weak. The Seat Belt Reminders also don’t adhere to Latin NCAP regulations. In addition to not having Lane Support Systems or Autonomous Emergency Braking as standard features, the automobile does not come with Speed Assist Systems.

Even if the car had side body airbags, the outcomes would remain the same since it lacked side head or curtain airbags. Side body airbags would not enhance the Adult Occupant Protection rating over zero stars, even if they would somewhat improve the side impact score. Its Child Occupant Protection rating would stay at zero stars.

The particular Indian A crash test of the Citroen C3 Aircross has not yet been conducted to evaluate its safety. It has two gasoline engines: a 1.2-liter turbocharged and a 1.2-liter normally aspirated. The latter generates 205 Nm of peak torque and 109 horsepower, while the former generates 81 Nm and 115 horsepower. The Aircross boasts a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, steering-mounted audio controls, and auto temperature control, among other important features.
