Ducati Unveils Bold New Scrambler Concepts: CR241 and RR241
Ducati has unveiled two exciting new concept bikes, the CR241 and RR241, at the 2024 London Bike Shed Motoshow. These concept bikes, based on the Ducati Scrambler, bring fresh perspectives to the Scrambler lineup, which currently includes the Icon, Full Throttle, and Nightshift trims available in India. The CR241 and RR241 concepts stand out with their distinct identities and design inspirations.
The CR241 draws heavily from the 1960s British Café Racer styling. This concept bike features a design that echoes a fighter jet, complete with a bikini fairing, clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, and a flat seat. One of its notable features is the removable rear seat, which can be replaced by a cowl to transform the bike into a single-seater. For those seeking an enhanced auditory experience, an optional Termignoni exhaust system can be added for a deeper, more resonant exhaust note.
The CR241 also boasts shorter 17-inch alloy wheels, contributing to a sportier stance and likely improving its ride and handling dynamics. The tank-mounted fairing pays homage to Ducati icons such as the Pantah and the 750 SS. Additionally, the single-sided swingarm extends to form a rear tire hugger that doubles as a registration plate holder, adding to the bike’s sleek and streamlined appearance.
In contrast, the RR241 adopts a more minimalist and functional styling approach. This concept emphasizes raw visual elements, particularly those crafted from aluminum. The front fender resembles a short beak, while the rear fender has been completely chopped off for a rugged look. The fuel tank features a frame to attach a bag, enhancing the bike”s practicality for carrying goods.
The RR241, like the CR241, includes a removable pillion seat that can be replaced with a luggage rack or repurposed jerry cans mounted on the left side case at the rear. This versatility makes the RR241 an excellent choice for adventure and utility. It also comes equipped with a Termignoni exhaust muffler, enhancing both performance and aesthetics. The chassis of the RR241 has been raised to accommodate 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoked wheels, which are fitted with knobby Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, underscoring its off-road capability.
Both the CR241 and RR241 are powered by the same 803cc, air-cooled, V-twin Desmodue engine found in the current Scrambler models. This engine produces 72 bhp and 65.2 Nm of peak torque, and it is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Despite the significant visual differences between the two concepts, their mechanical specifications remain identical, highlighting Ducati’s ability to offer diverse experiences based on a single platform.
As of now, Ducati has not confirmed whether these concept bikes will enter production. However, their unveiling at the London Bike Shed Motoshow has certainly generated excitement among motorcycle enthusiasts. The CR241 and RR241 concept bikes exemplify Ducati’s commitment to innovation and its ability to blend classic design elements with modern functionality.
