One of the few supercar manufacturers, Porsche, is already preparing for an all-electric future in the years to come. The sports SUV is currently only offered in fully-electric versions in India after the German brand withdrew the ICE versions of the Macan.

All of the SUV’s gasoline-powered versions have been taken down from the Porsche India website, leaving just the basic, 4S, and Turbo battery-powered models listed. Before the change, the Macan range came in three different petrol and all-electric variations, with ex- showroom pricing beginning at Rs 96 lakh.

Porsche has stopped producing the gasoline-powered Macan in a number of countries, including India. The sports vehicle manufacturer from Stuttgart is also discontinuing the Macan gasoline in other foreign countries. Most notably, in April of last year, the business stopped selling Macan gasoline in the EU. By the following year, production of the fossil fuel-powered Macan is anticipated to be entirely discontinued.

A 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine producing 261 horsepower and 400 Nm of maximum torque propelled the base Macan. The bigger 2.9-litre engine that drove the S and GTS models produced 375 and 444 horsepower, respectively. While the latter cost Rs 1.53 crore (both ex-showroom), the S model was priced at Rs 1.45 crore.

The Macan electric series now has pricing ranging from Rs 1.22 crore to Rs 1.69 crore (both ex-showroom). The top-tier Macan GTS has a dual-motor system that produces 578 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,130 Nm. Peak power output increases to 630 horsepower with a top speed of 260 kmph when the Overboost mode is used. In only 3.3 seconds, the electric SUV can go from 0 to 100 kmph.

Porsche’s move to phase out the gasoline-powered Macan in India is a big step in the direction of an all-electric future. The brand’s growing vision is reflected in the new electric Macan range, which has luxury design, cutting-edge technology, and strong performance. It’s a daring step that demonstrates Porsche’s dedication to innovation and sustainable mobility.

Porsche is switching to electric cars in order to comply with international emissions standards, lessen its influence on the environment, and prepare its portfolio for the future. By adopting EVs, Porsche is also able to include state-of-the-art technology while preserving performance, appealing to a new generation of tech-savvy and environmentally concious customers.
