The Enhanced Volkswagen Taigun Range: Introducing The GT Sport Plus And GT Line Variants

Written by S Das

Volkswagen India has unveiled an extended range for the Taigun SUV, introducing the GT Sport Plus and GT Line variants. Among the significant updates is the inclusion of the 1-litre turbo petrol powertrain in the GT Line for the first time. Although the models have been showcased, the official launch is imminent, with bookings now open for the GT Sport range. Let’s delve into the design enhancements across the entire GT Line portfolio, including Chrome, Sport, and Edge variants.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Line: New Variants

The Taigun GT Sport Plus features a striking blacked-out LED headlight cluster and casing, complemented by a dark finish on the front grille, outside rearview mirrors, and roof rails. Notably, the dark chrome door handles and bumpers boast glossy black borders, accentuating the SUV’s sporty appeal. Adding to the aesthetic allure are the all-black 17-inch alloy wheels with contrasting red front brake callipers and GT badges adorning various exterior elements, including the front, side fenders, and boot lid.

Inside, the cabin exudes sophistication with an all-black theme highlighted by red inserts on the dashboard and door panels. The black leatherette upholstery and leather-wrapped steering wheel further elevate the premium feel, accentuated by red stitching throughout.

In contrast, the Taigun GT Chrome opts for a more refined look with chrome accents adorning the front fascia, bumpers, fog lamps, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The clear lens headlamps replace the blacked-out counterparts, enhancing the SUV’s elegance. The dual-tone cabin and upholstery contribute to the luxurious ambiance synonymous with chrome finishes.

Meanwhile, the Taigun Edge retains the hallmark features of the Sport and Chrome variants while offering a darker aesthetic with colour options like Deep Black Pearl, Carbon, and Steel Grey Matte. Available in silver or black chrome finish, the cabin exudes sophistication, accentuated by red ambient lighting.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Line: Engines

Under the hood, the Taigun lineup maintains its robust performance with the inclusion of both the 1-litre and 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engines. The 1-litre engine, making its debut in the GT Line, delivers 114bhp and 178Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter transmission. On the other hand, the more potent 1.5-litre TSI engine generates 148bhp and 250Nm of torque, available with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

With these updates, Volkswagen continues to enhance the appeal of the Taigun SUV lineup, catering to diverse preferences and delivering a compelling blend of style, performance, and sophistication to discerning customers.
