At the Auto Expo 2025, BMW India unveiled the fourth-generation X3. The xDrive20 petrol and xDrive20d diesel versions of the 2018 BMW X3 have initial pricing of Rs 75.80 lakh and Rs 77.80 lakh, respectively. The brand-new X3 is now accepting reservations, and delivery will start in April.
There are mild-hybrid gasoline and diesel engine options for the SUV. These 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines are mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission that uses BMW’s xDrive AWD technology to distribute power to all four wheels. The X3 20d xDrive diesel generates 197 horsepower and 400 Nm, while the X3 20 xDrive gasoline generates 190 horsepower and 310 Nm.
The fourth-generation X3 has the same 2,865mm wheelbase but is 25mm shorter at 1,660mm, measuring 4,755mm long (34mm longer) and 1,920mm width (29mm wider). The Vision Neue Klasse X concept served as a preview of BMW’s most recent design language, which the new X3 also uses.
The SUV’s surfaces are spacious, spotless, and free of wrinkles and cuts. Along with new compact headlights and twin LED “ticks,” there is the standard large, lighted “kidney grille,” which has horizontal and diagonal slats. The new X3 sports a new alloy wheel design and large, well-fleshed-out wheel arches to give it the necessary toughness, even if it does not have plastic body covering.
With the iDrive 9 infotainment software, which was initially seen on the current X1, the new X3 boasts BMW’s curved display, which includes a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 14.9-inch driver display. It also has a flat-bottom steering wheel, freshly designed heated sports seats, and a redesigned dashboard made of mesh fabric. Park assistance, a panoramic sunroof, four-zone temperature control, powered front seats with ventilation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a reclining rear bench are all standard equipment. The Mercedes GLC (Rs 76.80 lakh–77.80 lakh), Volvo XC60 (Rs 69.90 lakh), and Audi Q5 (Rs 66.98 lakh–73.79 lakh) are competitors of the BMW X3.
With its sophisticated styling, potent mild-hybrid engine choices, and state-of-the-art amenities like iDrive 9, the fourth-generation BMW X3 is an impressive vehicle. With affordable prices beginning at Rs 75.80lakh, it rivals the Mercedes GLC, Volvo XC60, and Audi Q5, making it a strong contender in the luxury mid-size SUV segment.
