An Inspiring Tale Of The Journey From A Child Daily Wager To The Owner Of A Rs. 2000 Crore Worth Company

Mustafa PC, who was compelled to quit the study at the age of 10 due to family destitute, is now the owner of a packaged food company, iD Fresh Food, which is worth Rs. 2000 crore. Mustafa”s journey from a child daily wager to a wealthy entrepreneur is one of unwavering determination and hard work.

Hailing from a family in Wayanad district, Kerala, where three meals were a distant dream, Mustafa quit his study in Class 6 to help his father, who was a daily wager.

“I”d tell myself, “Right now, food is more important than education”,” he told the Humans of Bombay.

A teacher of his acknowledged his potential and pursued him to study further. With the help and support of the teacher, Mustafa rejoined the school, and the tutelage he received from the teacher made him an outstanding student.

There was no turning back, as his remarkable creativity and skills navigated him to vivid feats. Mustafa enrolled at NIIT Calicut for Engineering in Computer Science before completing his MBA from IIM-Bangalore.

After the study, he joined MNCs in India and abroad. However, his entrepreneurial instincts sought to have a business of his own, and that impetus led him to start iD Fresh Food, a packaged food company, with the help of a cousin.

“Despite a well-paying job, I always wanted to run a business,” he said. His initial investment was Rs. 50,000, and he holds 50 percent of the stake while owning the rest.

He started the company with a 50-square-foot kitchen, a mixer, a grinder, and a weight machine. However, with relentless efforts and determination, he was able to lead the company to a Rs 2000 crore net worth.

“We made plenty of mistakes along the way—once our batter overfermented and caused a blast in the store. We faced losses and went back to the drawing board,” Mustafa said.

iD Fresh Food operates two production plants in Bengaluru and one each in Hyderabad,Chennai,Mumbai, Mangalore, and Dubai. The revenue of the company saw a 23.5 percent growth to Rs. 294 crore in the 2020–21 financial year.

iD Fresh Food”s products are available in 23,0000 retail outlets across India, Oman, the UAE, and the US.
