The Central Bank of India issued a circular on Tuesday to all branch heads stressing the importance of maintaining proper conduct and staff management on account of recent complaints.
The notice indicated that several complaints were received from branch employees against their branch heads regarding inappropriate behaviour.

Central Bank has reminded branch heads that achieving branch targets and tasks depends on the collective effort, dedication and cooperation of all team members.
General Manager Poppy Sharma stated in the circular that they receive complaints about insulting or reprimanding staff in front of customers, declining genuine leave requests without proper consideration and using abusive language and threats of transfers.
As leaders and custodians of their respective branches, branch heads play a crucial role in managing branch operations effectively while maintaining a respectful, professional and supportive relationship with their staff, the circular said.

The circular also highlights specific instances of misconduct, including insulting or reprimanding staff in front of customers, declining genuine leave requests without proper consideration and using abusive language and threats of transfers.
The bank warns the higher officials that such behaviour is unacceptable and goes against the organisation’s values and code of conduct.
Branch heads are instructed to handle staff with professionalism, empathy and fairness. Any instances of misconduct or inappropriate behaviour will be taken seriously and upon verification, strict disciplinary action will be initiated as per bank policies.

The bank has advised branch heads to treat their staff with dignity and create a positive motivating work environment conducive to achieving branch objectives.
The Central Bank of India stated that the branch heads are also responsible for addressing staff grievances appropriately and setting an example of respect and integrity the circular serves as a formal communication and reminder to comply with the bank’s guidelines during working hours and any deviation from these expectations will not accepted, the circular added.
