An IndiGo flight bound for Guwahati in Assam from Mumbai has been compelled to make an emergency landing in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, on Saturday morning amid poor visibility due to dense fog, people aware of the matter said.
Despite trying to land at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, IndiGo flight 6E 5319 was forced to reroute to Dhaka, some 400 km from Guwahati.
“Due to the poor visibility caused by dense fog, the pilots were unable to land the flight at Guwahati Airport, and the team decided to divert the flight to Dhaka,” the Hindustan Times reported, quoting officials.

The flight landed at Dhaka International Airport at around 4 a.m. on Saturday.
On his X post, former Mumbai youth congress president Suraj Singh Thakur revealed an embarrassing situation where he and other passengers were stranded in Bangladesh”s Dhaka after their Mumbai-to-Guwahati IndiGo 6E 5319 plane diverted due to dense fog. Suraj embarked on his journey from Mumbai to Guwahati, where the flight couldn”t land due to dense fog and landed in Dhaka.
Suraj revealed that all the passengers have been inside the plane at the Dhaka airport for nine hours without their passports. He left Mumbai for Manipur (Imphal) to take part in the Bharat Jodo Nya Yatara. However, many X users take the light side of it, commenting that Thakur was able to take an international trip at a domestic price. One user congratulated him and thanked Indigo.
