Dr CJ Roy’s Last Rites Held In Bengaluru, Group Announces Press Meet On Tuesday

Bengaluru, Karnataka: Confident Group founder and chair Dr CJ Roy’s last rites were held at Nature’s Cascade on Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru on Sunday, February 1.  The funeral prayers took place at nearby St. Joseph’s Church, and the burial ceremony will be conducted at the Cascade premises.

Meanwhile, the Confident group has announced that it will conduct a press conference at 4 pm on Tuesday to clarify the circumstances surrounding Roy’s death.

Roy was found dead inside his office during an Income Tax raid, which the officials have been carrying out in Bengaluru for the last three days. He allegedly died by suicide due to pressure from the raid.

According to Roy’s brother, CJ Babu, who owns WhiteGold, Income Tax officials from Kerala had been carrying out searches in Bengaluru for the last three days. Alleging official pressure, Babu claimed Roy died by suicide using a pistol and held that the I-T team was responsible for his death.

The 57-year-old Kerala-born entrepreneur is a major real estate developer with projects in Kerala, Karnataka, Dubai, and the US. His business also expanded into hospitality, education, and film production, and served as Honorary Consul for Slovakia. Coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Confident Group, Dr Roy’s death has been discussed widely in India and the UAE.
