Maharashtra: Heavy Rain Sweep Nearly 3,000 LPG Cylinders From Bottling Plant Into Patalganga River
Raigad, Maharashtra: In a major accident, heavy monsoon rainfall caused flooding at the HPCL Patalganga LPG Bottling Plant in Raigad, Maharashtra, washing away approximately 3,000 filled and empty LPG cylinders into the Patalganga River.
Authorities issued an urgent advisory urging the public not to touch or collect the floating cylinders due to safety risks and to report sightings to HPCL or local officials.

Both filled and empty, are currently floating down the Patalganga River. The high-pressure gas cylinders allegedly poses safety risks to the people.
District Collector Kishan Jawale said there is no guarantee whether the cylinders carried away by the river contain gas or are in a safe condition. “Picking them up out of curiosity or for personal use, opening them, or taking them home could be extremely dangerous,” the collector said, underlining that citizens should not put themselves at risk.
