Netflix is going to mark a new chapter in its history as they reportedly decided to launch a number of retail shops in the United States soon. This major project by Netflix, named “Netflix House,” will not only sell merchandise but also serve theme-based food. Bloomberg reported that the streaming giant will open the first two Netflix Houses in the US in 2025.
Netflix made this strategic move as part of expanding beyond its streaming business. Netflix has not officially revealed anything to these retail destinations. As per the Bloomberg report, fans can shop, eat, and also engage in activities based on their favourite shows and movies. Netflix is working to launch new immersive locations created around its original TV shows. Through this, the streaming platform is expecting to promote their content.
“We’ve seen how much fans love to immerse themselves in the world of our movies and TV shows, and we’ve been thinking a lot about how we take that to the next level,” said Josh Simon, Vice President of Consumer Products at Netflix, to Bloomberg. Netflix currently sells merchandise through its online shop. Earlier in June, Netflix opened its first-ever restaurant, named Netflix Bites, in Los Angeles. The idea behind Netflix Bites was to provide a “screen-to-table” experience for the fans where they can try dishes prepared by chefs featured on various unscripted Netflix culinary shows. On the other hand, The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Netflix may increase the price of subscription plans within a few months. The report also revealed that this price hike will primarily affect the United States and Canada.
