OpenAI to Launch Dall-E3 in October

OpenAI has announced the launch of Dall-E3, its latest text-to-image tool. The new version of Dall-E will be available in October for ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users via the API. Users can input complex image requests and fine-tune prompts through conversations with ChatGPT.

The company claims that Dall-E3 can transform nuanced requests into highly detailed and precise images. The tool has additional safeguards to prevent the generation of violent, adult, or hateful content. It also blocks requests for images of public figures by name and images that copy the styles of living artists.

Creators will have the option to exclude their work from future text-to-image training tools. OpenAI faces competition from several rivals, including Alibaba’s Tongyi Wanxiang, Midjourney, and Stability AI. These companies are all focused on enhancing their image generation models.

There are ongoing concerns about AI-generated images. In August, a court in Washington D.C. ruled that AI-created art without any human input cannot be protected by U.S. law.

OpenAI is also dealing with legal challenges. A trade group representing U.S. authors, which includes renowned writers such as John Grisham and George R.R. Martin, has sued OpenAI. The lawsuit alleges that OpenAI used their work without permission during the training of ChatGPT.
