Reliance To Invest In Tamil Nadu For Renewable Energy And Green Hydrogen

Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani declared his commitment to invest more in green hydrogen and renewable energy projects in Tamil Nadu. Speaking in the backdrop of Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet (GIM), at Chennai Trade Centre, Mukesh Ambani, said he has every reason to believe Tamil Nadu will soon “become a trillion-dollar economy”. He said Reliance is ready to make new investment in Tamil Nadu in renewable energy and green hydrogen.

Mukesh Ambani appeared in a video message, as he could not attend the summit due to “unavoidable circumstances”. He said Tamil Nadu has always been a land of rich cultural and intellectual heritage, and under the leadership of “Thiru Stalin, Tamil Nadu has become one of the most business-friendly states” in India. He said Reliance has invested Rs 25,000 crores in Tamil Nadu for and opened 1,300 retail stores across the state. Jio, the Indian telecommunication company and a subsidiary platform of Reliance, has invested Rs 35,000 crores in Tamil Nadu, said Ambani.

The Reliance chairman said Jio has completed the fastest rollout of 5G on global level and thus would help Tamil Nadu in reaping the benefit of Artificial intelligence and other breakthrough for the industrial revolution technologies. In his message, Mukesh Ambani also mentioned the “state-of-the-art data centre of Reliance, which will be opening next week. He said the Reliance has collaborated with Canada’s Brookfield Asset Management and US based Digital Reality for setting up the new data centre.

Ambani said “Reliance is committed to making new investment in Tamil Nadu in renewable energy and green hydrogen”, and will work with Tamil Nadu state government to “promote sustainable development which is necessary to save mother earth from the climate crisis”. He ended his message by wishing the investor summit a “glorious success”.

The two day long Global Investors Summit of Tamil Nadu started today, January 7th. This year’s edition of the summit will have 9 partner countries and more than 30 participating nations. The summit’s slogan, ‘a $1trillion economy’ has been reverberating since May 2021, it is considered as one of the most vociferous saying of the Stalin government. Tamil Nadu has conducted the global investors summit before, in 2015 and 2019, but this is the first time since M K Stalin came to power. Stalin government claims the aim of the summit to create more jobs for the young generation and women workforce.
