Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Kerala on January 2 and 3, and he is also set to attend a few events across his destinations, a release issued by the prime minister’s office said on Monday.
Sharing the details about his visit on X (formerly Twitter), the prime minister wrote the program will begin from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu. Here, being the chief guest, the prime minister is expected to attend a convocation ceremony at the Bharathidasan University.
After the convocation, the prime minister will inaugurate the new terminal building at the Tiruchirappalli International Airport. The new airport terminal will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for the passengers, according to the prime minister’s office release.
“At the same time, other development works will also be launched. These works will benefit several people,” the prime minister wrote in his post.

The prime minister will also declare some development projects, inducing some railway projects. Talking about the railway development project, the prime minister said that the rail projects will help in improving the rail capacity to carry freight and passengers and contribute to economic development and employment generation in Tamil Nadu.
In addition, the prime minister is expected to announce five road sector projects in the state, according to the prime minister’s office. “The road projects will facilitate safe and faster travel of the people of the region and improve connectivity of industrial and commercial centres,” the PMO said.
After the Tamil Nadu visit, the prime minister will be reaching Kavaratti, Lakshadweep on January 3, at around 3.15 PM and will address the public gathering there.
Talking about his visit to Lakshadweep, the prime minister said that he looks forward to being among the people of Lakshadweep. “I look forward to being among the people of Lakshadweep. Development works worth Rs. 1150 crore would either be inaugurated or their foundation stones would be laid. These works include projects relating to better internet connectivity, ensuring clean drinking water supply, solar energy, healthcare and more,” the post added.
In Kerala, Prime Minister Modi will attend a road show at Thrissur, which according to the BJP state president K Surendran “would become a historic one.” The Kerala BJP is expecting political boost with the prime minister”s visit to the state and the Thrissur assumes special significance as the seat is one of the BJP’s main focuses in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
