Security Alert: IndiGo Mumbai To Delhi Flight Redirected To Ahmedabad

An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Delhi was redirected to Ahmedabad on account of a security threat alert on Wednesday. IndiGo said in a statement that its Flight 6E 651, flying from Mumbai to Delhi was redirected to Ahmedabad due to a security-related alert.

“The aircraft was isolated and all passengers were safely disembarked. Ensuring the safety and security of our customers and crew remains paramount in all facets of our operations,” an IndiGo spokesperson said. The Spokesperson confirmed that all necessary procedures are followed to ensure the safety and security of the passengers.

Also, several Indian flights received fake bomb threats on Tuesday leading to the grounding of aircraft. The flights that received the hoax bomb threats include Delhi-Chicago Air India flight, the Jaipur-Bengaluru Air India Express, the Dammam-Lucknow IndiGo flight, the Darbhanga-Mumbai SpiceJet flight, the Siliguri-Bengaluru Akasa Air flight, an Alliance Air Amritsar-Dehradun-Delhi flight and an Air India Express flight from Madurai to Singapore.

In a statement, Air India informed that the US-bound flight from Delhi to Chicago was diverted to Iqaluit Airport in Canada following a bomb threat. The airline said that as a precautionary measure to a security threat posted online, the flight Al127 operating from Delhi to Chicago on October 15, 2024, landed at Iqaluit Airport in Canada.

On Monday,  Air India flight AI 119 heading to New York from Mumbai was diverted to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday following a bomb threat. Mumbai airport received a message on X regarding the bomb threat on the flight bound for New York. The message was later conveyed to security agencies in Delhi and the aircraft was decided to divert to Delhi.

Earlier in September,  another Air India flight from Mumbai received a bomb threat as well which prompted it to land at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. As per PTI, a “Bomb in flight” message was written on tissue paper and found in the washroom.
