Indigo airlines receives six bombs threats today, adding to a growing number of similar threats in past week. The airline has issued press statement assuring passengers safety. According to the press statement released, the airline has stated that several of the flights scheduled on 20th October have received bomb threats.
In one of their press statement, they said, “We are cognisant of a situation involving flight 6E 58 operating from Jeddah to Mumbai. The safety and security of our passengers and crew is our highest priority and we are working closely with the relevant authorities and taking all necessary precautions as per the guidelines.”

The other flights which have received bomb threat includes flight 6E 87 operating from Kozhikode to Dammam, flight 6E 11 operating from Delhi to Istanbul, flight 6E 17 operating from Mumbai to Istanbul, flight 6E 133 operating from Pune to Jodhpur and flight 6E operating from Goa to Ahmedabad.
On Saturday, more than 30 flights operated by various Indian airlines reportedly received bomb threats. The airlines that have received bomb threats include Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Vistara, SpiceJet, Star Air, and Alliance Air. While, in total over 70 flights operated by Indian airlines had received bomb threats which were all later proven to be a false alarms.
The overall impact of these hoax threat has resulted in financial losses of up to Rs 80 crore for various airlines. And authorities are calling on stricter measures against such false alarms. The Civil Aviation Ministry is set to introduce stringent regulations aimed at curbing hoax bomb threats to airlines. These measures could include placing individuals responsible for such incidents on the no-fly list, effectively barring them from flying. Last week, the Mumbai police probing the hoax bomb threat had arrested a minor from Chhattisgarh.

The police are investigating the sources of the other threats and are coordinating with social media companies and Virtual Private Network (VPN) providers.
