The Starbucks Store Manager in New Delhi Devendra Mehra has shared a LinkedIn post appreciating a Zomato delivery guy for combating his challenges. Sonu, a Zomato delivery agent came to collect an order at Starbucks. Mehra noticed that the guy was holding a small baby with him and he recounted the incident detailed in his post.
He wrote: “Today, a Zomato delivery boy came to our store Starbucks Khan Market, New Delhi to pick up an order. He touched our hearts. Despite facing challenges at home, he continues to work hard while caring for his little 2-year-old daughter with him during work. He is a single parent raising his daughter. Seeing his dedication and love for his child was truly inspiring.”

Seeing Sonu’s commitment and dedication to looking after his kid, Starbucks extended a small gesture as the company treated Sonu’s cute daughter with a babyccino that left the little one grinning. Mehra took this as a moment to remind everyone about the resilience and strength of humans and how intensely they work for their families to feed.
However, mixed responses have been shared on the internet as the post was divided by various opinions. The post resonated with many as they shared their views taking it as a moment to appreciate the man’s commitment. On the contrary, some users said that giving a sweet gesture was not the way to help him, yet Mehra could have done something good for the Zomato delivery agent.
A LinkedIn user commented “Giving a dessert to a delivery worker seems more like a self-serving stunt than real generosity. If you genuinely wanted to help, you could have offered more substantial support, like better job opportunities, instead of using a small gesture for social media clout. I wonder how this dessert will change his life…”

Users also raised concerns about the privacy of Sonu stating that the Starbucks store manager took this as an opportunity to indirectly advertise the company. A user wrote: “I understand that this is a good gesture from Starbucks, but posting it on social media just portrays this gesture as a promotion stint as I know that this is not an intention. We should also understand the privacy of Sonu and his daughter. I feel that helping others should be a primary responsibility of every individual not just portrayed as a great thing.”
Bouncing on the post, Zomato extended its gratitude to Mehra for sharing the post on social media as they commented on a long note applauding his kind gesture. “Hi Devendra! Thank you so much for sharing this touching story about Sonu. We’re deeply moved by his dedication and the strength he shows in his work. We’ll ensure your heartfelt appreciation is passed on to Sonu. His resilience and commitment truly embody the spirit of our team. Your kind gesture and recognition mean a lot to us.”
