Union Cabinet Approves Productivity Linked Bonus of Rs.1968.87 crore to Non-gazetted Railway Employees

The Union Cabinet has approved a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for all eligible non-gazette Railway employees, including Track Maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Points man, Ministerial Staff and other Group ‘C’ staff (excluding RPF/RPSF personnel). The bonus will be equivalent to 78 days’ wages for the financial year 2022-23.

According to a report from the PM office, the Union Government has approved payment of PLB of Rs. 1968.87 crore to 11,07,346 railway employees in recognition of their excellent performance. The report noted that Railways loaded a record cargo of 1509 million tones and the number of passengers reached 6.5 billion in the year 2022-2023.

The report attributed this record performance to many factors including improvement in infrastructure, efficiency in operations and better technology. The report also pointed out the record infusion of Capex by the Government.

The payment of PLB will act as an incentive and may motivate Railway employees towards further improvement in performance, the report said.
