CBSE Alerts Schools Against Sports Organisation Using Board's Name

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in an official circular to the affiliated schools, said it is officially affiliated with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) as of July 8, 2024. It also added that from the academic year 2024-25 onwards, winners of the CBSE National Games will participate in the SGFI National School Games, organized annually by SGFI.

CBSE has also issued an alert regarding a fraudulent sports organization, the ‘CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society’ (CBSE-WSO) based in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. This organisation, according to the board, has been misusing the CBSE name to organise and participate in sports events. It has been observed that many CBSE-affiliated schools have unknowingly participated in these unauthorized events.

The CBSE has also clarified that it has no connection with the ‘CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society’ and advised all schools to refrain from associating with or participating in any sports competitions organized by this group. It also instructed the affiliated schools to verify any communications from such organizations on the official CBSE website (cbseit.in/cbse/2023/sports).

“Failure to comply with this directive will result in action against the schools involved,” the board said in the circular.
