CBSE Class 10 Maths Analysis: "Moderate Difficulty Level," Say Experts

The national level secondary education and examination conducting body CBSE held the Mathematics paper in India and abroad, and experts said the questions were of “moderate difficulty level”. Timeline had spoken to  Dr. Neetu Kapoor, Principal of Army Public School, TGTs Sutha Sahadevan and Rajani Lakhmani and they have shared the following insight with us.

“The overall paper was lengthy and of moderate difficulty level. It required a strong understanding of concepts and the ability to comprehend the questions properly. In Basic Maths paper, Section E was a little bit difficult,” they said. They further added that the students who had prepared well can easily score good marks in Basic paper provided they had good comprehension skills. However, it will be difficult to score full marks in the paper.

As for the average students, the paper was challenging as it required in-depth knowledge and a clear understanding of the concepts to interpret the question in the most effective manner. However, there were no out-of-syllabus questions in the paper.

Many students found the paper lengthy, as it took enough time to comprehend the statements and then apply the concept to solve. The MCQs were detailed and required careful reading and analysis, adding to the overall time consumption.

“The paper effectively tested students’ conceptual clarity, comprehension skills, and analytical thinking, making it a lengthy paper. Most of the questions were framed to check the competencies of the students”.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the class 10 board exam today, March 10, 2025, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. The Mathematics exam was held in two categories – Basic and Standard. Students who want to pursue arts and humanities subjects mostly chose ‘basic’ mathematics, and students who want to select the science stream chose ‘standard’ mathematics.
