CBSE Class 12 Maths Paper Analysis: "Moderate Difficulty Level," Say Experts

The national level secondary education and examination conducting body CBSE held the maths paper today in India and abroad. The experts analyising the paper has classified it to be “moderate difficulty level”.

Timeline had spoken to Dr. Neetu Kapoor, Principal of Army Public School, PGTs Hardeep Kaur PGT (also Maths HOD) and Gitanjali and they have shared the following insight with us.

“The overall paper was lengthy and of moderate difficulty level. It required a strong understanding of concepts and the ability to comprehend the questions properly,” they said. They further added that a well-prepared student can easily sailed through the paper, provided they had good comprehension skills as most of the questions were presented in a statement form, however, it will be difficult to score full marks.

As for the average students, the paper was challenging as it required in-depth knowledge and a clear understanding of the concepts to interpret the questions effectively, the teachers added. Moreover, they have pointed out that the questions did not align with the given exam pattern as two 5 marker questions were from the same unit.

“In calculus more weightage is given to the application of derivatives chapter,” they said.

Many students however, have found the paper lengthy, as it took enough time to comprehend the statements and then apply the concept to solve. The MCQs were detailed and required careful reading and analysis, adding to the overall time consumption.

“The paper effectively tested students’ conceptual clarity, comprehension skills, and analytical thinking, making it a lengthy paper. Most of the questions were framed to check the competencies of the students”.

The CBSE Class 12 board examination for Mathematics and Applied Mathematics was held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
