The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the syllabus for classes 9 and 12 for the academic year 2024-25. With the adoption of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education – 2023 by CBSE, schools are advised to align their practices with the recommendations given in the curriculum. The complete information about the syllabus and curriculum can be accessed through the official website.
There are two categories for the curriculum: Senior Secondary (classes 11 and 12) and Secondary (classes 9 and 10). While the Class 12 syllabus contains seven core areas, including languages, humanities, mathematics, sciences, skill subjects, general studies, and health and physical education, the Class 10 syllabus is composed of five required subjects and two electives.
Reportedly, the National Council of Education Research (NCERT) notified CBSE about the revision of class 3 and 6 syllabuses following the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE). Notably, the NCERT, CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, and Navodaya Vidyalaya Sangathan are collaborating to implement the NEP 2020. The current materials and curriculum will be used for the remaining classes.
The new curriculum will be effective from the upcoming academic year 2024-25. In the notice sent to CBSE, KVS, and NVS, the required actions including changes in school timetables, and information to school heads, teachers, and parents are highlighted. It advised regulatory authorities to formulate a strategy to engage students of Grades 3 and 6 in playful and activity-based learning at the start of the new academic year to ensure a holistic environment for creativity as well as physical education of children.
