Delhi University in an official order released on November 18 suspended a female student of MA Russian, Department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies for writing objectionable slogans on the university wall. The committee constituted by the university took the decision considering the charges and ‘found her guilty’ of misconduct, the university said.
The MA student was earlier suspended for two months and faced a police complaint against her. The incident took place on July 31 and she was suspended on August 21 following an FIR.
The expulsion order stated, that the student would be expelled from the university for six months with immediate effect and she would not be permitted to attend any classes or examinations or allowed to participate in any institutional activities.

The student is a member of the Disha Student Organization, at Delhi University. The organization condemned the university’s decision and said that the graffiti was part of the national campaign against exam irregularities and paper leaks against the National Testing Agency (NTA).
In its statement, the Disha organization said that Delhi University claimed in the court that the expulsion aims to deter students from indulging in such activities in the future. The statement also said the graffiti made on campus walls during the DUSU elections by ABVP and NSUI however no FIR was filed against them.
The organization staged a protest at the Arts Faculty in North Campus by calling the expulsion unjust and demanding to revoke the expulsion order.
